September 2017 Monthly Review -$3,400.00

The slowest month of betting for a very long time. This should have been a winning month, but I placed a bet on the wrong side and did not correct it (8 years in and still making mistakes). That resulted in a $10,000 turnaround. This month also saw the start of the NFL and the end of the AFL season. There was just the grand final to be played on October 1st for the NRL. I’ve been so preoccupied with other things over the last year and a bit, that betting has taken a back seat. While it used to be in my top 3 important tasks each day, it is now nearer the bottom of my top 10 tasks. That’s not to say I do not place bets at the right time and get the best odds (that routine has stuck over 7 years of constant repetition), more so like any love affair, you go through ebbs and flows and right now it’s one of those low periods. The new NBA season has stoked some emotion back into it, and I can’t wait to continue beating the closing lines this season.

In total, September saw turnover of $134,730.00 for a loss of $3,400.00 at -2.52% ROI.

I placed 71 bets over the month and won 39, lost 30, and had 2 refunded.

NRL

Only 12 NRL H2H bets for the month as we were into the finals period. I won 7 of those 12 bets but ended up losing $4,870.00 at -12.3% ROI. The Totals betting won 10 from 11 bets for a $5,020.00 profit at 57.8% ROI. I did win the final bet of the season, but that will be added to next months report.

AFL

The AFL had a profitable end to the season, but it should have done much better than the $810 profit on the H2H at 12.9% ROI and the $3,640.00 profit on Line bets at 34.6%. I placed a $5,000 bet on the wrong line and by the time I realised the line had moved so much, I decided to just let it run. Instead of an extra 5k profit, I had to add a 5k loss to this months statement. If I was paying attention, this months profit would have been $6,600.00

The AFL did an amazing job this season. H2H betting saw turnover of $228,970.00 over 126 bets for a $14,600.00 profit at 6.37% ROI. Line betting saw turnover of $504,380.00 over 165 bets for a $43,920.00 profit at 8.70% ROI. In total, I made $58,520.00 at 7.98% ROI

NFL

We started the NFL season just following the Line bets for the first few weeks. That resulted in a $3,000.00 loss at -4.6% ROI. From October we switch to only betting on totals until the end of the season.

I say a fond farewell to both the NRL and AFL for another season. We move onto the American sports period, with the NFL and NBA to keep me busy. Jonno has done a heap of analysis on the NBA and the model looks as strong as ever. I’m hoping for the historically great start to the season and to turn a profit in October. Until next month.
