June to October 2018 Review +$41,170.00
This is the longest stretch of time I have not updated my results. In June I took off for Russia and spent a few months at the World Cup and travelling around central Europe. No betting was done over that period. I loved the break so much that I was very reluctant to get back into betting. But I knew I would be turning down a lot of potential profit with the NFL and NBA seasons coming up. So back on the horse it was and the rewards are there to see.
The NBA and NFL bets are the least time-consuming bets to place. I bet at Sportmarket as 80% of the time they have the best odds. This means per day I am spending less than a minute placing bets. Not a bad hourly pay rate. The last 3 weeks I have been in Japan and even betting via mobile was easy. The exact opposite is true for trying to get any bet on with an Australian book.
During these 5 months, the AFL and NRL seasons ended (full reviews soon). We are now into the American sports for the next 4 months. July also saw my 8th year end and my 9th year of betting begin. I still remember posting my first blog post over 3,000 days ago. It’s been an incredible journey and I have some big plans for year 10.
As you can see from the graph below, I was down about $10,000 in June when I took off for Russia. It wasn’t until September that I started betting again and was about $15,000 down for this period. Then the NBA started. You can read about how well the NBA and NFL have been going here. But in just a few days, all losses were recouped and a huge amount of profit has been made.
In total, June to the end of October saw turnover of $287,230.00 for a profit of $41,170.00 at 14.33% ROI.
I placed 188 bets over the 5 months and won 104, lost 78 and pushed 6.
AFL
The AFL H2H bets saw turnover of $5,930.00 and a profit of $2,350.00 at 39.6% ROI. I placed 3 bets and won 2 of them. The Line bets hit 37.5% with 3 winners from 8 bets. I turned over $24,680.00 and lost $2,700.00 for a -10.9% ROI.
The entire season ended $730 in profit for me (SP members would have lost much more over the season). I was lucky to stop betting when I travelled.
NRL
NRL turned over $9,040.00 on the H2H bets for a loss of $9,040.00 at -100.0% ROI, I also turned over $680.00 on Totals and made a loss of $680.00 at -100.0%. That means all 3 bets lost.
The entire season ended with an $8,640.00 profit. SP members would have done better as the model did ok while I was travelling.
NFL
We have been very selective on following the NFL model this year. Looking at past results, I advised DP members to follow the Line model from weeks 1 to 6 and the Totals model from week 5 to 16. So for the following few months, I am only following the totals on this model. I turned over $78,250.00 on the Line bets and made a profit of $6,070.00 at 7.8%. I placed 52 bets and won 28 of them. So far I have placed $49,470.00 on the totals and am sitting on $6,760.00 profit at 13.7% ROI.
NBA
I’m sure you are sick of hearing me talk about the NBA totals model, but over the last few years, it has taken the mantle as the best Sportpunter model. You can read this post I wrote before the season started, it tells people to get on the model early as it performs amazingly at the start of the season. This year was no different. Actually, even better than I could imagine.
I’ve turned over $109,270.00 and made a profit of $34,120.00 at an incredible 31.2% ROI.

It’s good to be back
