July 1st – July 7th +10,984.83

A new season but the same emotions. Once again I was sitting on $20,000 profit for the week on Sunday morning with a few bets to come. As always, you assume that whatever happened on the last few bets is going to carry forward. I set myself up for a smack down every single time. If those games did win than it’s only what I expected and I’m not happy or sad about it, but when they lost (and they did), I get pissed off. I guess the major factor was the hope to get year 6 off to an amazing start (not that $11,000 isn’t amazing), but we all know this is a very long marathon with no defined finishing line and not the sprint we imagine it to be. This year I am making a big effort to distance myself from the weekly highs and lows, the smartest thing to do is to stop writing weekly updates and move them to once a month. But I enjoy the schedule I have and I know a lot of you need reading material while on the loo (yep, the number of people who email to tell me this is well into the double figures. Talk about too much information). As mentioned in last weeks post about getting the best odds, I now will work my butt off for the 30 minutes each day required to place the bets and than simply forget about betting until the next day. It’s hard not to check in constantly on scores throughout the day, but there are no positives to it at all.

Sportpunter had a perfect week with all sports generating a profit. The AFL added $5,100, The Super 15 season ended with a win and $900 profit and the other footy code (NRL) added $200. Baseball also added an extra $3,600 to bring the total for all Sportpunter models this week to $9,800. This week also marked the end of the first full year of the Dailyprofit service. I’m currently working on the yearly review and this should be up on Thursday. It’s been a great learning experience starting my own service and I’m very pleased with the results. There are a heap of improvements to be made, but not only has it made a decent profit over the season, it has done so by quoting under-market odds. Lots of changes coming up in year 2 so stay tuned for Thursdays update.

The Golf continues to lose every week. Very tempted to just chuck it in. Jason Kelly lost $775 and Betswot a further $425. My own personal bets produced $500 profit and betting against price movements resulted in $1,000 profit.

Year 6 starts with a very healthy profit. I have no idea what this year will bring, but after year 5’s crazy year, I’m hoping for a less volatile 365 days.

Total Profit for the week was $10,984.83
