What a miserable end to the worst punting year of my life. With only the American sports in action, I still managed to bet $572,040.00 over the 2 months. Am I the only losing gambler on the entire internet? it seems that way if you ever have a look at twitter, apart from me everyone else is winning. They say 2% of gamblers win, but in social media land, it’s flipped on its head, with 99% winning and just me sitting in the 1% of losers. But hey, honesty doesn’t sell subscriptions or get likes.
We will have a much closer look at the 2016 loss next week when I do my yearly review, but 2016 will show a total loss of $168,620.00. November saw $310,000.00 bet for a $12,790.00 loss at -4.13%. December saw $262,040.00 bet for a $38,470.00 loss at -14.68%.
I placed 434 bets over the 2 months and won 208, lost 219 and 7 were refunded.
NFL
I still remember the start of the NFL season and going 12-1 from Line bets. This period I had 31 line bets and only 11 won. I bet $148,080.00 and lost a massive $41,830.00 at -28.2% ROI. The Totals bets did a little better, only losing $6,610.00 at -4.5%. Just like the AFL, a model I thought was a rock star has performed shockingly.
NBA
NBA totals have been the only profitable model and I turned over $170,130.00 and made a $15,580.00 profit at 9.2%. The H2H bets took all that profit and more with a $18,400.00 loss at -17.2%.
Very happy to see the back of 2016. Surely I am the biggest losing gambler on the Internet this year, and yet well over 90% of my bets had to be placed offshore as no Australian corporate bookmaker wants to take my action. 2017 is not going to be a fun year for profitable gamblers in Australia. With new laws coming in, it is going to be very difficult to get any bets on at all.
