Introducing Punt101
This is a big day for me. I’m excited to release the first version of Punt101.
I had the idea for this tool over 4 years ago and wrote about it in 2015. Over the years, I’ve tried and failed to get this idea off the ground. Late last year, I decided if I was ever going to create the site, the time was now. I went out and found a great programmer (and paid him handsomely) to help me develop what is known as an MVP (minimum viable product).
The backbone of the Punt101 website is all about your bet history. I’ve now been betting seriously for 9 years and one of the biggest takeaways from my success is that I tracked every single bet I have ever placed. This gave me the ability to see how I was going and to analyse and make changes to my portfolio. Without tracking my bets and analysing the results, I would have never made a profit.
But I also understand how busy we all are and the time commitment involved in recording, tracking and analysing bets. What used to take me days per month to do can now be done automatically. When I am ready to run a report all I need to do now is head to the site and click a few buttons. It has saved me at least 2 hours per week in record keeping.
Below you can see how all the tools work together to automate everything
The Future
This is just the beginning of a much bigger toolkit. I want Punt101 to be the site you come to before and after you place a bet. That means I’ll be adding Stats, odds comparison, online courses, live scores and everything else you could imagine.
We will also have a blog and forum and the main aim is to build up a community of smart punters. This site will be 100% community driven.
I’ll be looking for you all to help with the site in one way or another.
The next year is all about making everything you have seen in the video work flawlessly. There will be a huge number of bugs we find as more and more of you test out the site. We will also add new bookmakers every month.
Privacy and security
The bet history application stores your usernames and passwords encrypted on your computer only. Punt101 does not have access to them.
An open startup
Just like I have done with my betting, this company will be an open startup. That means I will share everything with you. Our numbers (users, visitors), costs, profits/losses and so on. Just as I have done over the last 9 years with my betting, I will be fully transparent with how I run the site. Expect quarterly updates.
100 Beta testers
You will be able to create an account from today by heading to the Punt101 website and signing up (click sign in and then Sign up). After I have 100 signups I will close down the ability to create an account. Only join if you are willing to test out the site and give feedback.
Comments please
I would love to hear what you think and what you would like me to add to the site.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to creating the ultimate sports betting tool for you.
Looks awesome Steve, best of luck with P101.
Any idea when it/if will be available for MacOS?
Thanks.
No timeframe for Mac. Likely next step would be a chrome extension as the end goal would be to make it work on mobile phones.
Hey Steve, looks good, will you change the site to be https so login data is secure?
Hey Hayden, of course. Was on my to do list 🙂
This is very good idea can’t wait to use it
Thanks Carlos,
Glad you like it
Can it get your history from all bookie websites
Hi Neil,
Eventually yes, but currently only TAB, Pinnacle and Sportsmarket. We will be adding new bookmakers each month based on which ones the community vote on.
Hi Steve,
This product have potential, but part where you put username and password is very tricky. I as a software developer knows that can be easily hacked and what is garantiee that is stored only on my computer?
I suggest you to for other bookies use scraping data via custom browser pluggin or specify format for csv/xls to import bets from any file.
Also keep in mind that user can have more accounts at same bookmaker.
I definitely will keep eye on this product.
Regards
As you say, you have a MVP with the existing software _except_ for those of us without accounts at those three sports books. The priority should be on adding more sports books.
Hi Lou,
Every new sportsbook added costs between $500 and $1,000. We will get there eventually but first I need to know if this is something people actually want.
Also, TAB has over 1 million customers and I’m sure Pinnacle isn’t far off that. So even with only a few bookmakers, it should still satisfy some early guys.
Let me know what bookmaker you would like to see added next.
Thanks
Steve
Hi,
Security is paramount when dealing with money. Your suggestion is exactly what we already do 🙂 Only Pinnacle uses their API.
In regards to multi accounts, it’s not a concern for us. Someone with multi accounts would know not to log into more than 1 account on the same computer/IP. It won’t stop them using the tool on multiple computers though.
Thanks for your feedback.
I am in the U.S., so we are more limited in bookmaker options. How about 5Dimes and Bookmaker for offshore and some of the newly legal ones opening up, say William Hill and Scientific Games.
The US market is something we will look at soon. But we will concentrate on Aus and Europe for now. But 5Dimes will be added soonish.
What is the business model for the site? How will revenue be derived?
It’s a SAAS business. So we will allow free accounts forever if all they want is to see their profit/loss figure. For more data (such as pinnacle closing lines) they will pay a monthly subscription.
It won’t be a site with affiliate deals everywhere.
There are a heap of other ways we can eventually monetise (partnerships, data, courses, and many more).
But I’m not looking to make anything for the foreseeable future. Just making the best product I can.
The screenshot shows ‘Wages’ which should, I assume, be ‘Wagers’,
Thanks for that, will update
Fantastic Job mate!
Although it’s not working for me. I am an European user of Pinnacle.
– Is there any tweak or do i need to change any definition at Pinnacle website?
My steps were:
– connect VPN
– Open Betting history aapp
– Insert Pinnacle user & pw
– chose dates & sync
All my Pinnacle history has been uploaded, however the Sync Failed! (as shown at the bottom message from the punt101 tool.
Thanks
Hey Jao,
Can you uninstall the tool, redownload the newest one from the Punt101 site and try again. If it does not work, please contact me using the chat window on the Punt101 site and we can figure out what is going wrong.
Thanks
Steve
Hey, Steve
