Punt101 Monthly Update #1
Having a weekly, and then a monthly review of my betting was one of the keys to my betting success. By being able to think back on what I had learnt over the past week or month and see how that reflected in the results was a huge benefit. In that spirit and also in the spirit of transparency, I want to do the same thing with my new business.
I released the beta version of Punt101 on July 3rd 2019. In the past month, I’ve had some setbacks and also some successes. I’ll talk about all of them.
For those who haven’t seen what Punt101 is all about, please watch the video below
The good
- 338 people have tested the software over the past month (had only planned to allow 100 people, but just left it open)
- received feedback and feature requests from over 50 of those users
- Topsport will allow API access to betting histories (meaning you can get your entire Topsport betting history)
- Talked with numerous researches on how they could work with me
- Got a Betfair API license
- In talks with potential tech co-founders
The bad
- Pinnacle odds API data switched off (meaning closing odds data and game day pages are not working)
- Outsourced programmers are not continuing
The Pinnacle issue:
Pinnacle allows access to their API for customers who bet over a certain amount every month. I was betting well over the amount needed, but when Pinnacle left the Australian market, I had to move my betting to 3rd parties. My account’s API access was still open, and it worked for 6 months before Pinnacle shut it off (as no turnover was being made on the account). I contacted them and was told I could pay for API access for $5,000 USD per month. As a startup making zero dollars and not looking to charge for a long time, this was not possible.
I’ve tried to contact the head of Pinnacle but sadly have not received a reply. I’ll continue to contact some other Pinnacle employees and hopefully, some arrangement can be made. I’ve also been searching for alternative odds suppliers and can get the same data for about $1,100 USD a month.
If anyone is a Pinnacle member and turns over 6 figures per month and is willing to give me access via their API, I’m more then happy to have a chat and give you free access to Dailyprofit and to Punt101 for life. Just contact me.
For now, I will just incorporate the Betfair API which is free and which will allow Horse Racing starting prices and game day pages to work.
Still looking for a tech co-founder
I had outsourced the development of the site. The programmers I had working on the site were great (and expensive). The main guy who was overseeing it has decided to try something else, so is no longer doing any outsourcing of work.
I’m looking for anyone with javascript / nodejs experience. If you have also worked with the Betfair API before that would also be great.
I’m happy to pay an hourly rate or give equity in the company. Just contact me if you have the experience and are interested.
What’s coming this month
I still have 1 programmer who works on the Desktop application. This month we are adding some fixes to the TAB bot, adding Topsport and creating an Android app.
If you want to keep updated about the site, just head to Punt101 and sign up. You will receive emails when new features are added to the site.
I thought the pinnacle api was free? Atleast when I was running bots for couple of years I didnt have to pay anything. If there is a way to check it let me know.
It is free as long as you are betting with Pinnacle. The rules now state that you need to turn over $250k a month to have access. If you are just hitting the API a few times a day, that’s not an issue. But we were hitting it every second for all line moves.
